Brian Seiz Named UHSP Interim President
On Sept. 12, the University of Health Sciences and Pharmacy in St. Louis Board of Trustees announced the appointment of Dr. Brian Seiz as Interim President of the University following the recent resignation of President David D. Allen.
As an alumnus and former faculty member of St. Louis College of Pharmacy at UHSP, and a former member of the UHSP Board of Trustees, Seiz has been an integral part of the University community for many years and brings a unique perspective to his new role.
“I was educated here, met my wife here, taught here and was able to serve for a number of years as a board member, and I’m thrilled to be back on campus to lead my alma mater,” Seiz stated. “My decision to take this role was personally driven by my love for the University and my commitment to continuing the success of this great institution.”
Seiz is an accomplished health care professional with significant expertise in pharmacy benefit manager services, specialty pharmacy, biologics and gene therapy. Brian spent a combined 17 years at Cigna Health Services (through the acquisition of Express Scripts), serving for the last three years as President of Pharmacy at Cigna.
During his career, Seiz also served in leadership roles with Accredo Specialty Pharmacy, Express Scripts Home Delivery Pharmacy and CuraScript SD.
“UHSP has set the bar for academic excellence and the expertise of our staff and faculty allows us to educate the best and brightest students,” said Neal Sample, chair of the UHSP Board of Trustees. “I have had the pleasure of working with Brian on the UHSP board and professionally, and I am looking forward to the success we can accomplish with Brian’s guidance and leadership.”
During his time as Interim President, Seiz will be focused on three key priorities:
○ Engaging and empowering the University Leadership Team
○ Ensuring that core functions of the University are operating successfully
○ Addressing the most critical strategic challenges facing the University
“I look forward to engaging with University leaders, board members and members of the UHSP community to examine the various challenges and opportunities that exist for us,” Seiz noted. “The foundation for my professional success was created at UHSP, and the outstanding education I received helped get me to where I am today, so I am highly invested in this work and the successful future that lies ahead for this University.”
