COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT
Members of the UHSP community are committed to educating future generations of young people on the benefits of health and wellness, and creating tomorrow’s health care providers through innovative on-campus programming and partnerships with local organizations.
Summer Programs
UHSP gives St. Louis area high school students the chance to explore their passions in science and health care within the heart of the Washington University Medical Campus.
The Health Care Summer Immersion Program offers students a chance to live on a university campus and explore STEM career paths, while the eSports summer camp blends gaming and STEAM careers in a unique, fun way for middle and high school students.
Continuing Pharmacy Education
UHSP continuing pharmacy education program instills a love of lifelong learning through developed programing for alumni and the community that promotes optimal patient outcomes, cultivates interprofessional approaches in the health sciences, and helps you fulfill your continuing education requirements when it comes time to renew your pharmacy license.
Community Partnerships
Through UHSP’s partnerships with local organizations, students, faculty and staff have the opportunity to support and give back to the community.
Healthworks! Kids’ Museum St. Louis
Since 2018, student pharmacists from St. Louis College of Pharmacy have been actively engaged with the Healthworks! Kids’ Museum St. Louis, which houses numerous interactive exhibits focused on health topics. Within the pharmacy exhibit, UHSP students help kids count capsules and complete the process of filling faux medication and teach them about medication safety. Student pharmacists also assist in developing museum presentations, shows and exhibit spaces.
Kids Vision for Life
UHSP student pharmacists support Kids Vision for Life St. Louis in its mission to bring vision screenings, eye exams and prescription glasses to local elementary, middle and high schools. UHSP students travel to area schools to provide on-site vision screenings and also assist with providing vision services on the Kids Vision for Life mobile vision clinic bus.
JDRF Boo Fest
For 15 years, UHSP has partnered with JDRF, the leading global organization funding type 1 diabetes (T1D) research, to host an afternoon of candy-free Halloween fun for St. Louis area children with T1D. The event, which is hosted by UHSP student organizations, features Halloween-themed games, crafts, music, face and pumpkin painting and T1D-friendly refreshments and serves as a safe and healthy alternative to trick or treating for children with T1D.
Saint Louis Science Center
Throughout the academic year, students from St. Louis College of Pharmacy host tables at the Saint Louis Science Center designed to provide kids with information on pharmacy and related topics such as viruses and bacteria, antibiotics, immunization, poison prevention and medication safety and disposal. UHSP’s longstanding relationship with the St. Louis Science Center spans more than 15 years.
Partner with UHSP
UHSP values its many partnerships with the community, and we’re focused on expanding our network of connections. If you’re interested in partnering with us or discussing ways we can collaborate, we’d love to hear from you!
